IAMMETER Updates Energy Meter Firmware with Admin Security for EN 18031-1:2024
IAMMETER has released energy meter firmware i.91.065.9, introducing a new Admin Security module to strengthen the protection of local device access.
The update is part of IAMMETER’s work to address the cybersecurity requirements relevant to internet-connected radio equipment under EN 18031-1:2024. It adds authorization controls to critical local APIs and allows users to disable network services that are not required in their installation.
What Is New in Firmware i.91.065.9?
Admin Security Module
The new Admin Security module provides controlled access to the energy meter’s local administration functions.
When Admin Security is enabled:
- Critical local APIs require token-based authorization.
- Unauthorized requests cannot directly use protected configuration and data interfaces.
- Local access can be managed more securely without removing the meter’s integration capabilities.
SSDP Can Be Disabled
SSDP is used for device discovery on the local network. Firmware i.91.065.9 allows this service to be disabled when automatic discovery is not needed.
Disabling unused discovery services can reduce the energy meter’s exposed network surface.
Modbus/TCP Can Be Disabled
Modbus/TCP is useful for local integration with Home Assistant, industrial software, gateways and other energy-management systems.
With the new firmware, users who do not require Modbus/TCP can disable the service. Users who depend on Modbus/TCP should leave it enabled.

Important: Update the IAMMETER App Before Enabling Admin Security
Please upgrade the IAMMETER app to the latest version before enabling Admin Security.
After Admin Security is enabled, protected local APIs require token authorization. Older versions of the IAMMETER app do not support this authorization process.
If you enable Admin Security while continuing to use an older app version:
- Local device settings cannot be changed through the old app.
- Local energy data cannot be read through the old app.
Update the app through the app store for your mobile platform first, and then enable Admin Security on the energy meter.
